Samuel Polak was a son of Barend Polak and Elisabeth Prijs. His father died in Rotterdam a few months before the outbroke of the war in 1940. His mother had died already in 1926. Samuel Polak was a shop assistant and lived in in the family of his brother Levie at Statenweg 111 a in Rotterdam. He was unmarried. On 31 July 1942 he arrived in transit camp Westerbork, together with the family of his brother Levie and has been deported to Auschwitz on 3 August. On 30 September 1942 he has been killed there. Also his brother Levie, his sister-in-law Sara and his niece Hester were killed that day in Auschwitz.
Samuel was born into a family with eight children. His sister Sientje and brother Simon have survived the Holcaust. The others, namely Rebecca, Isaac, Levie, Hijman, Mozes (and Samuel self) have been killed all during the Shoah.
