Esther van der Horst was a daughter of Jakob van der Horst and Rosette Voorzanger. She was a worker and unmarried and lived at home with her parents at Noorderkanaalweg 11 in Rotterdam.
She had three others sisters, namely Heintje, who might have survived the war, Saartje and Anna. One twinsister of Esther died in 1923, only 4 months old.
Between 3 and 5 October 1942 she has been sent, together with other family members to Camp Westerbork, where she stayed untill 11 January 1943. That day she has been deported to Auschwitz, togeter with her sister Saartje, where she eventually has been killed on 30 April 1943.
