Biography

About Isaac Bril

Isaac Bril, a son of Israël Bril and Eva Fransman, married 30 March 1927 in Rotterdam Hester Dasberg, a daughter of Salomo Dasberg and Jansje Hartog. They lived at Mathenesserlaan 514 b where they were running the resting house Bril. September 1927 their daughter Henny Eva was born.

According notes made at Isaac's registration by the Jewish Council, the following former functions were mentioned: radio telegraphist at sea, wholesale optics, German Realschool radio telegraphist and Isaac was exempted from deportation (“gesprerrt bis auf weiteres”) by the Jewish Council because of his function at the Council: leader of the department of optics at the Jewish Council, teacher of optics at Mauritsstraat 68 since 19 July 1942 and he was chief/leader of it all.

19 May 1943 the family moved (voluntary or forced) from Rotterdam to Amsterdam where they found a place at Biesboschstraat 14 III (with Keijzer).  However, during the unexpected and big raid of 20 June 1943 in Amsterdam, Isaac and his wife and daughter were arrested and that same day through the Muiderpoort station sent to Camp Westerbork. Isaac’s wife Hester and daughter stayed in barack 58 and Isaac in barack 57. Eventually they were deported all with the last train from Westerbork to Sobibor 20 July 1942 and upon arrival there 23 July 1943 immediately killed.
