Salomon Witsenhuijsen was a son of Levie Witsenhuijsen and Susanna Lampie He married 10 July 1940 in Amsteram Duifje Platvoet, a daughter of Marcus Platvoet and Jetje Gans. The couple had two children, namely Levie in 1941 and Jetty in 1942. Both the children have survived the Shoah by going into hiding.
The Witsenhuijsen family decided to go into hiding and Salomon and Duifje ended up in Veenendaal. However, 4 January 1944 the SD raided their hiding place and they have been arrested and deported to Camp Westerbork as “persons in hiding”, where they were registered 6 January 1944. They had to stay in barack 67 till they were put on transport 25 January to Auschwitz as a “criminal case”. Upon arrival there, Duifje Witsenhuijsen-Platvoet was killed immediately there 28 January 1944. Her husband Salomon Witsenhuijsen was forced to do hard labor for quite some time but he lost his life eventually 21 January 1945 somewhere in Mid Europe.
