Abraham de Vries, dock hand, born 1859 in Amsterdam as son of the cattle driver Leendert Salomon de Vries and Gerritje Berghof, married 8 August 1877 in Amsterdam Sara Park, a daughter of Joseph Jacob Park and Hijntje Salomon Platvoet. The couple had ten children of whom eight have died already before the war. Only his daughter Heintje and his son Bernard were killed in the Shoah.
Afther their marriage, Abraham and Sara have resided at only a few addresses in Amsterdam, among others from 1892 till 1902 at Valkenburgerstraat and from 1902 till 1928 at Rapenburgerstraat. There Abraham’s wife Sara Park passed away 24 March 1919; she was interred in the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen. 14 April 1928 Abraham moved to Krugerplein 1, but 20 July 1938 he moved to Laing’s Neckstraat 15 down floor, where he came living in with his daughter Heintje, who was married to Alexander Kok.
24 September 1942 Abraham de Vries was brought in Westerbork, to be put on transport the next day, 25 September 1942 to Auschwitz. There, upon arrival 28 September 1942, Abraham de Vries has been immediately killed at the age of 83 years.
