Victor Zwaab, born in 1883, was a son of Mozes Zwaab and Hanna Gomes de Mesquita. Hij was a travelling salesman in shoes en married at age 45 on 27 June 1928 to Grietje van Bergen from Weesp, aged 38 years, a daughter of Joseph Hartog van Bergen and Matje Manus de Wolff. After their marriage Victor and Grietje moved into a house at Tilanusstraat 23 in Amsterdam. Their marriage remainded childless.
In the family of Victors parents, six children were born, namely Machiel (1875-1901), Rebecca (1877-1943), Esther (1885-1886), Hijman (1888-1942), Joseph (1879-1942) and Victor self (1883-1942). Grietje however had only one sister, Eva, who passed away already in 1917.
Also Victor left his parental home 4 July 1910 and moved into a house at Nieuwe Keizersgracht 29, together with his then still unmarried brothers Hijman and Joseph. His father Mozes Zwaab had died already in 1902 and his mother Hanna Gomes de Mesquita passed away 23 May 1910. She was interred 25 May 1910 in the Jewish Cemetery at Muiderberg.
On 1 May 1914 Victor Zwaab and his brother Joseph moved from Nieuwe Keizersgracht 29 to nr. 27 and in April 1917, both their addres became Weesperstraat 10. In April 1926 they went from Weesperstraat 10 to nr. 45, but on 6 July 1928, two weeks after his marriage, Victor with his wife Grietje van Bergen moved to Tilanusstraat 23. 4 May 1935, they moved for the last time to Andreas Bonnstraat 3 3rd floor.
Victor Zwaab and his wife Grietje van Bergen have been deported to Westerbork between 3 and 5 October 1942. Probably Grietje van Bergen was hospitalized 14 October in Westerbork as notes on her registration cards from the Jewish Council made clear that "she still was in hospital 7 November 1942". 4 December an inquiry was made "whether there was still treatment with liver injections" (Anfrage of weiter mit Leberspritzen behandelt wird). Certain is however that 8 December 1942 both were put on transport, together with 925 other deportees to Auschwitz. On arrival there 11 December 1942, Victor and Grietje were immediately killed.
