Eva Wagenhuizen was born 24 July 1888 in Amsterdam als seventh of the eight childreen of Jacob Wagenhuizen and Rebecca Witmond. Her other siblings were Rachel (1874), Morris (1876), David (1877), Barend or Barnett (1879), Simon (1881), Bella (1882) and Bertha (born in Amsterdam 1888), the others all born in London. Her sibs Barend and Bella died already before the war the others have been killed during the Holocaust
Eva married 25 February 1914 Hartog Italiaander, born 9 September 1883 in Amsterdam, shop assistant and son of Simon Italiaander and Lea Frank. The couple had three children, namely Simon in 1915, Lea in 1916 and Rebecca in 1917. Hartog Italiaander however passed away 18 October 1919 in Amsterdam, and six years later Eva Wagenhuizen remarried 26 Augustus 1925 the 47-year old commercial traveller Julius Woudhuijsen from Amsterdam, a son of Daniel Woudhuijsen and Anna Polak. Eva and Julius had on 28 December 1925 a son named Daniel Woudhuijsen. Julius Woudhuijsen died still before the war, on 1 January 1940.
Eva’s daughter Lea Italiaander left for Palestina on 13 February 1939 and could possibly provide Palestinian papers for her mother, her brother Simon and sister Rebecca, who were in Westerbork in 1943. Notes of 16 September 1943 on the registration card of Rebecca Jacobs-Italiaander do confirm this attempt but another note of 24 September 1943 showed that nothing had been received.
Eva’s son Simon Italiaander was sent 24 April 1943 to concentration camp Vught, toghether with his wife Rosette Kleinkramer, to whom he was married 20 March 1940. On 23 May 1943, Simon was transferred to the work camp Moerdijk where he stayed in barrack 3. On 3 July Simon and Rosette were registered in Westerbork from where both were put on transport to Sobibor 20 July 1943. On arrival there on 23 July 1943 both were immediately killed.
Eva’s daughter Rebecca Italiaander, who was married 4 December 1941 to Alexander Jacobs, was put on transport 18 January 1944 to Theresienstadt, toghether with her husband. Rebecca was transferred from there to Bergen Belsen, where she has lost her life about 15 April 1945, according a surviving withness. In the spring of 1945, her husband Alexander Jacobs eventually lost his life in Bergen Belsen too.
Eva’s son Daniel Woudhuijsen, who lived together with his mohter at Nieuwe Achtergracht 77 in Amsterdam, was born from Eva's 2nd marriage to Julius Woudhuijsen. He was registered in Westerbork 26 September 1942 and put on transport to Auschwitz on 28 September. On arrival 1 October 1942 he was selected for forced labor and not sent to the gas chambers to be immediately killed. Eventually Daniel lost his life in Auschwitz 31 January 1943.
The widowed Eva Woudhuijsen-Wagenhuizen was registered too that 26 September 1942 in Westerbork and put on transport to Auschwitz 28 September. On arrival on 1 October 1942 she was immediately killed in the gas chamber of Auschwitz.
