Biography

About Jacob Mozes Rood and his wife Suze van Praag.

 

Jacob Mozes Rood, a son of Juda Rood and Marianne Friedman, was married to Elisabeth Santilhano op 27 September 1939, but from her divorced 27 July 1942. Toghether they had a little daughter Betje, born 20 July 1940. Betje remained living with her mother with family at 1e Sweelinckstraat 18 in Amsterdam . Both were deported from Weserbork to Sobibor 10 March 1943 and on arrival there 13 March 1943 immediately killed.

Jacob Mozes married afterwards again to Suze van Praag, a daughter of Louis van Praag and Rachel Polak. The wedding was 16 September 1942 in Amsterdam. Jacob Mozes worked as official for the vegetable distribution in Amsterdam but per 16 September 1942 he was employed as male nurse  at Resthome E. Mok at Ruyschstraat. On 1 March 1943 he was moved to a new function as administrator but since 4 February 1943, but from 4 February 1943 he no longer observed this function. His wife Suze van Praag was seamstress at the Amsterdamse Confectie Industri Aglia N.V.

On 9 April 1943, Jacob Mozes Rood, together with his wife Suze van Praag werd taken to Westerbork where they had to stay at barrack 68. On 20 April they were put on transport to Sobibor and on arrival there on 23 April 1943, they were immediately killed.
