Kalman Polak, son of Lion Polak and Helena Polak, married 4 September 1895 in Den Haag to the 21-year old Rebecca Huisman, daughter of Emanuel Huisman and Matje van Leeuwen. The couple had three children, namely Lion, who however already died 2 Augustus 1896, just seven months old; on 26 March 1897 their daughter Mathilda was born and on 20 July 1898 their daughter Helena.
Kalman's spouse Rebecca Huisman however passed away at the age of 24 on 16 January 1899 in Den Haag and on 15 August 1900 he married again the 41-year old widow of Eliazar Huisman, Kaatje Fresco, vendor woman of fruit and a daughter of Jonas Levy Fresco and Duifje Komkommer. Also Kaatje Fresco passed away before the war on 28 March 1939 in Den Haag.
Kaatje Fresco was previously mrried to Eliazar Huisman, a son of Isaac Emanuel Huijsman and Roosje Kosman. From her first marriage she had five children, of whom her daughter Roosje died at the age of 15 in 1902; her son Isaac Eliazar survived the Holocaust; her son Jonas has died before the war (1937) but two daughers, namely Doortje and Rebecca were killed during the Shoah.
