The administration of the pre-war Jewish communities ran the synagogue and the cemetery, provided Jewish education, appointed rabbis etc. All local Jewish communities are part of an umbrella network, such as the Dutch-Jewish Congregation, the League of Liberal Religious Jews or the Portuguese-Jewish Community.
