Herman Beek, born 22 August 1922 in Amsterdam, was the unmarried son of Jesaja Beek and Vogeltje Frankfort. He was an office clerk, worked as an assistant accountant and was in possession of his diploma's in accounting. With his parents and sister Martha, he lived agt Burmanstraat 15 parterre in Amsterdam, but the family had to move on 16 August 1943 to Christiaan de Wetstraat 20 1st floor in the Transvaal district in Amsterdam-East.
At the time of the German occupation, Herman was exempted until further notice ("gesperrt bis auf weiteres") by the Jewish Council, and had this job at the service "Help to those departing". On 20 June 1943, he was fetched and taken to Westerbork during the large-scale round-up which has been prepared in the greatest secrecy. In Westerbork he was accomodated in barrack 63 till 29 June 1943, the date Herman Beek was put on transport to Sobibor. On arrival there on 2 July 1943 he was immediately murdered.
