Hanna, my grandmother (d. Auschwitz or Sobibor, 1943), was the mother of Erich Glückauf (survivor, d. Berlin, 1977), Paul Glückauf (survivor – and my father, d. New York, 1951), Werner Glückauf (d. Auschwitz, 1942), and Ilse (Glückauf) Kratz (survivor, d. San Diego, CA, 2002). Her husband, my grandfather Julius Glückauf, died of natural causes in Amsterdam in 1939.
