Jacob Beek was a son of Philip Leon Beek and Rebecca Koren, who lived with their family at Eerste van Swindenstraat 76 1st floor in Amsterdam since 1912. Jacob was born 10 February 1885 in Amsterdam, unmarried and tailor by profession. After the passing of Jacob’s father on 3 July 1916, who had become already a widower in 1901, Jacob Beek became main tenant of the house, where also his unmarried sisters Elisabeth, Jansje and Chrisje lived, but after Jacob was admitted to the psychiatric hospital Reinier van Arkel in Den Bosch on 9 December 1916, his sister Elisabeth became the main tenant of the house.

There mainly aftercare was given to male patients between 40 and 60 years old.
On 29 November 1939 Jacob was admitted in Het Apeldoornsch3e Bosch in Apeldoorn again, which in the night of 21/22 January 1943 has been “emptied” by the Germans. All patients and staff were put on transport to Auschwitz and on arrival there on 25 January 1943 all were immediately killed, among them also Jacob Beek.
