On 23 June 1945, Juliette van West-Barmes' sister, Jeanne Gompers wrote from Sweden that Trude and Rubi just one week ago, so mid June 1945 had returned in Amsterdam. At first the had to live in then with the Winter family at Haarlemmermeerstraat 112, before they were offered an own house in the Theophil de Bockstraat 27 II.
The widow of Ab van West, Juliette van West-Barmes, who had gone into hiding in Leiden, as well her daughter Grace, who was hidden in Friesland, rented rooms with Trude and Rubi after the war and they lived in there for quite some time, till Juliette and Grace found attic rooms in the Eemsstraat for themselves.
From Ria de Korte, who was with Jeanne Gompers and many others in the Philips Command, Trude was educated in the profession of beauty specialist, so she was able to support her self and her son.
