Salomon Vos was the first of the three children of Jesaia Vos and Saartje Leuw and he was born in Antwerp on 29 August 1911. He was a diamond worker by profession and married on 9 December 1939 in Borgerhout (Belgium) Celine Veffer, who was born on 28 July 1916 in Amsterdam as a daughter of Jonas Veffer and Raatje Schellevis.
The couple lived in Borgerhout at the Gitschotellei 301. Their residence permit was only valid till 8 February 1940, after which Salomon and Celine returned to Amsterdam and found housing in the Majubastraat 59 1st floor. On 9 June 1941 they moved to Ruyschstraat 74 3rd floor in Amsterdam-East, where also on 2 March 1943 their son Jacques was born.
When on 20 June 1943 the large-scale raid was held, which has been prepared secretly by the German occupiers, also the Salomon Vos family was arrested and carried off to Westerbork. Officially, Celine and her baby Jacques lived at Ruyschstraat 74, just like her husband as is stated on the archive cards of the City Archive of Amsterdam. However, the registration card of the Jewish Council of Celine Vos-Veffer and of her baby-son Jacques stated also the address Roerstraat 99. At that address lived the just on 18 March 1942 married couple Joseph Vos, born 9 May 1910 in Amsterdam and his wife Alida van der Horst, who was born in Meppel in 1917. (but a relationship could not yet be established).
Joseph Vos, a son of Isaac Vos and Mietje Visser and his wife Alida van der Horst were also arrested at that 20th of June 1943 and carried off to Westerbork, where they had to stay in the barracks 63 and 65, waiting for their deportation. On 29 June they have been put on transport to Sobibor where, on arrival there on 2 July 1943, they were immediately killed in the gas chambers.
However, Salomon Vos, his wife Celine Veffer and their baby of 4 months old were housed in different barracks: baby Jacques in barrack 58, Celine in the penal barrack 67 but of Salomon it is not known. The family was deported to Sobibor on 13 July 1943 and on arrival there on 16 July 1943 immediately killed in the gas chambers.
