About Mientje Wijnberg-Groenberg.

Widow of Philip Abraham Wijnberg.

Mientje Wijnberg-Groenberg was the widow of Philip Abraham Wijnberg, who had passed away in his residence Gouda on 9 September 1935. Philip Abraham was a son of Abraham Philip Wijnberg and Bertha (Billa) Frank; he was born in Hoogeveen on 14 March 1870 and married Mientje Groenberg in Winschoten on 9 May 1895. She was a daughter of the merchant Izaäk Nathan Groenberg and Sophia van Gilpen.

Philip Abraham Wijnberg was a religious teacher by profession. On 10 April 1892 he was registered in Assen at the address Rolderstraat 55, but moved also to house no. 63 and no. 46. On 27 May 1895 Mientje Groenberg was then officially registered too and on 28 February 1896 their son Abraham Philip was born. Early January 1900 the family moved in Assen from Rolderstraat 46 to Nijlandstraat 5.

At some point, the Wijnberg family moved from Assen to Gouda, where Philip Abraham had passed away on 9 September 1935. Thereafter, Mientje Wijnberg-Groenberg moved to Oosthaven 31, to the Israëlitisch Oude Mannen- en Vrouwenhuis (the Israelitci Old Peoples home), from where she was carried off to Westerbork on 9 April 1943. For the the time being she was accommodated there in barrack 70 till she was deported to Sobibor on 27 April. Upon arrival there on 30 April 1943, she was immediately murdered in the gas chambers.
