Rosa de Levita was the 2nd spouse of Meijer van der Stam, who passed away in Den Haag on 27 December 1937. The 53-year old Rosa married him on 7 November 1934, after Meijer’s first wife Jetje Polak had passed on 30 October 1932 in Den Haag. Rosa was born in Dunkirk on 17 August 1881 as a daughter of Salomon de Levita and Berendina Huisman.
When Rosa married Meijer van der Stam in November 1934, they moved into a house at the Gevers Deynootweg 68 in Scheveningen, moved to house number 120 in May 1935 and on 14 May 1936 to Badhuisweg 26. Eventually, Rosa de Levita, widowed from Meijer van der Stam, moved to the Moucheronstraat 47, which is located opposite the Haagse Bos, and came living in with Mozes David van der Stam and his family who was the son of her deceased husband’s first marriage.
Early October 1942, Rosa was carried off to Westerbork. It is certain that she was there on the 12th of October 1942. At the other hand, she wasn’t put on transport to the East immediately but stayed for a longer time in the camp. On 17 February 1943 she was admitted in the camp hospital in barrack 81. Her luggage followed the 18th and further notes at her registration card of the Jewish Council shows that her luggage was in barrack 81 till 8 April 1943 and therefore also she herself.
On 13 April 1943, Rosa de Levita was deported to Sobibor and upon arrival there on 16 April 1943 immediately murdered in the gas chambers.
