Saul van Geldere, born in Rotterdam on 5 April 1860, was the 2nd of the 13 children of Salomon van Geldere, born in Naaldwijk and Sophia Polak from Rotterdam. Saul left Rotterdam for Doesburg on 16 August 1888 and at the age of 28 he married there the 27-year old Sientje Fransman, who was born on 5 May 1861 in Rotterdam as a daughter of Naftalie Fransman and Magdalena Heid. On 2 January 1931 Saul and Sientje arrived from their penultimate place of residence Nijmegen in Amsterdam and came to live at Zwanenburgerstraat 21, moved on 31 July to Sparrenweg 27 and on 29 September 1933, they moved in with their youngest daughter Engelina van Geldere, who resided with her husband Phineas Waaker and son Jacob in the Lepelstraat 79 II in the old city-centre of Amsterdam.
Sientje Fransman however passed away there on 4 April 1934 and was interred in the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen. Saul van Geldere now widowed, remained living in with the Waaker family and passed away there at the age of 80 on 22 February 1941. He too was interred in the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen.
