A list of Jewish prisoners newly arrived stored in the Archives of the Auschwitz-Birkenau were made by prisoners working in the admissions office (Aufnahmebüro) of Political Department (Politische Abteilungt). Names of Jewish newly arrived inmates are written according to the number order.
The document is a source of information about 10.089 Jewish men prisoners deported from different places to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Fields include: category ("Haftart") camp number ("Häftl. Nr." - Häftlingsnummer), name ("Name"), first name ("Vorname"), date of birth ("Geb. Dat." - Geburtsdatum) place of birth ("Geb. Ort" - Geburtsort) and occupation ("Beruf"). There are 6.828 names with an annotation about a fact of death. In the head of each list there are: the date of preparation of the document, date of arrival and the name of the German unite responsible for deportation to the camp. A list of Jewish newly arrived inmates is arranged chronologically in two volumes.
