Rudy Tewel was born in Arnhem, 1934. He was the son of Baruch Tewel and Chane Tewel-Spiegel.

He was hidden for approximately three years in different locations, most of them remained unknown. Towards the end of 1943 he arrived to Vertrouwen (“Trust”) Children’s Home in Soest, Utrecht, which was run by Dien van Woerden (Vingerhoets). Van Woerden took in Rudy, who was one of the six Jewish children among the 16 children in her care. At the end of the war, The Jewish Brigade, notified by the Tewel family who lived in Palestine, managed to locate Rudy. He was reunited with his elder brother, Gad, in Palestine in the summer of 1946.

Rudy survived the Shoah. He married Rina, and had three sons - Yaron, Raziel and Gilad. He passed away on December 16th, 2016, surrounded by his family in his home in Kfar Warburg, Israel.
