Louis had received a work order alongside his sisters, Sara and Esther, however, he chose to go into hiding (alongside his wife) instead of reporting at the assembly site in July 1942. Esther and Sara were deported to Auschwitz and perished there.
Two families were recognized by Yad Vashem for their sacrifice that lead to Louis' survival:
Hendrik Dijk and Evertje Dijk-van de Grift
and when the Dijk's had to move Louis for their saftey, they sent them to Evertje's sister and brother-in-law:
Celia Margaretha Oostlander-van der Grift and Arie Pieter Oostlander.
