Aron Delden was the eldest son of Jacob Delden and Leentje Ossedrijver. He was born in Amsterdam on 31 August 1899 and earned his living as pedler. On 21 April 1919 he married Marianne Waas in Amsterdam, who was born there on 3 January 1891 as a daughter of Lion Mozes Waas and Sara Hekster. Aron and Marianne had two daughters together: Lena on 27 April 1919 and Celina was born on 24 August 1921.
After the wedding, Aron and Marianne moved into a house at Rapenburgerstraat 159. Between 1919 and 1937 another five relocations followed; they lived among others in Amsterdam-East in the Hofmeijerstraat and in the Ben Viljoenstraat but up from January 1937 they lived at Nieuwe Kerkstraat 38 1st floor.
Their youngest daughter got married to Abraham Swaap in Augustu 1942 and moved to his address at Waterlooplein 74. She lived previously at home with her parents and her sister Lena and since mid-April they were employed at the clothing factory of Hollandia Kattenburg, which has been raided on 11 November 1942 by the Germans. All Jewish workers were carried off, partly to the Scheveningen prison and the others to Westerbork.
Aron and Marianne were taken from their home on 14 November 1942 and carried off to Westerbork where they were “re-united” with their daughters Lena and Celina. On 30 November they were all deported to Auschwitz in a transport of 826 deportees in total. However during a stop at Kozel, located ±80 km west from Auschwitz, 170 deportees were forced to leave the train to be subsequently put to work as forced labourers in the surrounding labor camps in Upper-Siliesia.
Aron Delden eventually ended up in Blechhammer, one of the largest labour camps and subcamp of Auschwitz, which fell under the command of Monowitz. It is not known when exactly Aron there lost his life. The Dutch Authorities therefore have established after the war that Aron Delden has died in Blechhammer on 31 December 1944.
Aron’s wife Marianne Waas and both their daughters Lena and Celina were transported onwards from Kozel to Auschwitz, where upon arrival there they have been immediately murdered on 3 December 1942 in the gas chambers of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
