Isaäc Fuld wsa the third child who was named Isaäc at his birth on 11 June 1920. His parents, Louis Fuld and Jeannetta de Winter had previously sons, who were named Isaäc too; the first Isaäc was born on 3 October 1911 but died already nearly 5 months old, on 28 February 1912 in Rotterdam.
The second Isaäc was born on 6 February 1916 but he too passed away at the age of 2 on 6 February 1918 in Rotterdam. And the third Isaäc was born on 11 June 1920 and he died on 14 May 1940.
Isaäc lived with his parents in the center of Rotterdam at Helmersstraat 18c. Although the Helmersstraat was completely lost in the bombing of Rotterdam, an investigation has not found anyone who died in that street during the bombardment on May 14. Neither his parents nor the other children still living at home.
It was not until 30 April 1953, by order of the Minister of Justice, that a death certificate was drawn up for Isaäc Fuld, stating that he died in Rotterdam on 14 May 1940. The (probable) time of death is not stated. This of course quickly brings to mind the bombardment, but as long as there is not sufficient clarity about this (due to the unknown time of death), other options must also be kept open.
If anyone knows more about Isaäc Fuld or about the circumstances under which he died on 14 May 1940, please contact the editors of the Jewish Monument via email joodsmonument@jck.nl
