Ludovicus Abraham Daniels was the youngest son of Abraham Daniëls and his second wife Henriette van West, a daughter of Levie van West and Margaretha de Metz. Abraham and Henriette were married 1 August 1906 in Antwerp and Ludovicus was born as their third son on 5 February 1911 in Antwerp. His elder broters Mauritius Abraham (9 Jan 1907) and Alexander Abraham (4 Dec 1907) were bornn there too. Ludovicus Abraham Daniels remained unmarried.
From the first marriage of his father to Rebecca Rens, in Amsterdam on 16 October 1898 also a son was born: Hermanus Abraham Daniëls. Rebecca Rens however passed away on 5 November 1902 in hospital, the “Burgerziekenhuis” in Amsterdam. Unknown is however where she was buried.
Abraham Daniëls was employed as a diamond polisher in Antwerp and went after the marriage to Henriette van West to the Van den Peerenboomstraat 34 at Borgerhout. In the course of 1912 they moved to Nottebohmstraat 23 in Antwerp and at the end of 1914, the Daniëls family returned to Holland and lived in then with Cohen at Weesperzijde 97 in Amsterdam and on 8 September 1915, they moved to Marcusstraat 13.
Early April 1930, Ludovicus Abraham Daniel was inspected for the National Militia, however he was rejected for flat feet. Ludovicus, also known as Lodwijk or Loetje, meantime had found a job as office clerk with a wholsale in haberdasheries.
On 4 January 1935, as a commercial traveller, he left for Den Haag and lived at Buijs Ballotstraat 84. On 29 March he left Den Haag for Johan de Wittstraat 217 in Arnhem, from where he returned to Den Haag, Grote Marktstraat 24. On 23 July he left Den Haag again for Parkstraat 19 in Haarlem.
It is certain that Ludovics moved in Haarlem still one more time; according to a statement of the Municipality of Haarlem, he lived at Westergracht 29-zwart. However, during the obligatory registration of all the Jews in the Netherlands – since January 1941 – it appeared on his registration card of the Jewish Council, that his address then was Huijgensstraat 13 in Den Haag.
Of the concise data from his registration card may be further deduced that at some point in spring 1943, he was sent to concentration camp in Vught and from there transferred on 7 June 1943 to Westerbork, where he was locked up in the penal barrack 67. The reason why he ended up in barrack 67 is unknown, (there may be a possible connection with a resistance organization in Haarlem where his name was known).
At the same time, on 7 June 1943, the so-called Children transport left Vught for Westerbork, which was sent on the next day, 8 June 1943 to Sobibor. Unknown is whether Ludovicus was added to this Children transaport i.e. as accompanist or that he as included in this transport as a “penal case”.
Ludovicus Abraham Daniels, together with the more than 3000 children, parents and accompanists were murdered immediately upon arrival in the gas chambers of Sobibor on 11 June 1943. There were no suvivors.
