Abraham, Mozes and Jacques Vogel were sons of Salomon Vogel and Sara Roodveldt. They were born in Amsterdam, Abraham on 26 June 1925, Mozes on 4 August 1921 and Jacques on 20 September 1918. All three were employed: Abraham as a presser, Mozes and Jacques both as forwarders. Incidentally, Mozes and Jacques worked in another profession before: Mozes as a bicycle boy and Jacques as a factory worker. They all lived at home with their parents, brothers and sisters at Rapenburgerstraat 16, 1st floor and up from July 1941 at Muiderstraat 11 2nd floor in Amsterdam.
The unmarried brothers Abraham, Mozes and Jacques Vogel all received a call up to report to Westerbork for the deportation transport to Auschwitz on 23 July 1942. They received a temporary postponement of deportation there, which was granted to them by the Jewish Council on various dates: Abraham on 24 July, Jacques on 25 July and Moses on 27 July. If a set back of deportation was granted, a new ticket also had to be issued. The brothers therefore received a “B.N.H.” (Biljet Naar Hooghalen = a ticket to Hooghalen), and all three were eventually deported to Auschwitz on 31 July 1942.
After arrival there, they were put to work, but it is unknown where they ended up and when exactly and under what circumstances they died there. The Dutch authorities therefore determined after the war, partly on the basis of investigations by the Red Cross and testimonies of survivors, that the three brothers could no longer be alive after 30 September. The municipality of Amsterdam was then instructed to draw up death certificates for them, in which it is recorded that Abraham Vogel, Mozes Vogel and Jacques Vogel died on 30 September 1942 in Auschwitz.
However, on the website Museum & Memorial Auschwitz-Birkenau, only Mozes Vogel appears to have a record from the "Sterbebücher" of Auschwitz (death index), which indicates that Moses was murdered there on 29 September 1942. No further information about the death of the brothers Abraham and Jacques is known, other than according to the death certificates drawn up in Amsterdam on 29 September 1950.
