Elisabeth Haamerslag was a daughter of Juda Haamerslag and Leentje Nikkelsberg and wa born on 21 August 1894 in Amsterdam. She married in Amsterdam in 1920 to Joël Barber and had with him two children.
Her mother, Leentje Nikkelsberg, was previously widowed from Joseph Isaac van Kreeveld, with whom she had two children Van Kreeveld: Isaac and Hendrika. From the second marriage of Leentje to Juda Haamerslag, three children Haamerslag werd born, of whom Elisabeth was the eldest: she has (presumably) survived the war.
Her sister Judic Haamerslag, who was married to David Meljado, was murdered together with her husband on 4 June 1943 in Sobibor.
The youngest sister of Elisabeth was Roosje Haamerslag, who survived Auschwitz. Her first husband Joseph Boas passed away already before the war in 1937. With him she had two children Boas: Kitty, who survived the war and Leentje, who has been murdered in Auschwitz on 17 September 1943.
Roosjes second husband was Isidoor Rabinowitsch, to whom she was married in January 1942. He too lost his life in Auschwitz on 17 September 1943.
It is to conclude from the family registration card of Joël Barber, that the entire family emigrated to Johannesburg in South Africa on 12 May 1936, which were Joël Barber, his wife Elisabeth Haamerslag, his daughter Greta and son Juda.
