Isaac Michel was a son of Friedrich Michel and Lena Reitwit. He was born on 21 December 1892 in Amsterdam. Like his older brother Herman, Isaac became a tailor by trade. On 25 October 1911, Isaac Michel was “enlisted for service” in the National Militia, but no further notes have been made in the Amsterdam Militia register, from which it can be deduced in which regiment he served, for how long and where.
However, it can be deduced from the family registration card of his father Friedrich Michel that Isaäc has left Amsterdam for Paris on 7 September 1913; he was already out of the Militia by then. From Paris, Isaäc returned to Amsterdam on 7 January 1914 and lived at home again with the family, who since June 1898 lived at Koestraat 13, 1st floor-left side.
From there, Isaäc Michel was admitted on 15 January 1915 to the Dutch Israelitic Insane Asylum (Nederlands Israelitisch Krankzinnigen Gesticht) “het Apeldoornsche Bosch”. He spent the rest of his life there and died there on 12 November 1942. Isaäc Michel has become 49 years old.
