Before the war the address was located in a small lane! Which connects the Dracht with the Molenwijk!

In the photo we see the Kruiskerk church in the background with the Spandau Bridge in front. From here, when sailing, turn right through the main bridge onto the Lindegracht in front of the family's shop, Tof! That's a very sharp turn. People only sailed on the Molenwijk with small boats and then only if you had something to look for. Because, among other things, a tannery was located on the Molenwijk. Tanning is a dirty job for which things are used that are unhealthy for everything that lives and flourishes! So you didn't live there for fun, because don't forget that people only started to worry about the environment and public health much later. That tanner probably still discharged his waste water into the Molenwijk! Consequence dirty soil bad houses, a big dilapidated mess!
In the early 1930s, the government intervened:
That dirty derelict gang can't do it anymore! They starts first with filling that dirty stinking ditch!

In this photo we see the filling in of the Molenwijk in (1932). The large building on the left with the arched windows is the old tannery! From that tannery you walk across the pedestrian bridge into the Molensteeg.
Note the spire of the Kruiskerk church can just be seen in the background. So we have the same view as in the photo in 1925 only slightly more to the south.
