Meijer Joseph van Tijn, born in Naarden on 14 September 1819, married in Beverwijk on 3 June 1850 Jacomina van Tijn, who was born on 15 October 1816 in Uitgeest.
The couple had seven children, of whom the first child a stillborn son was. Thereafter followed Jozef Meijer, Beletje, Klaartje, Levi, Golda and Engeltje. Of these six live-born chirldren only Golda and Engeltje were murdered during the Shoah. The other children all have passed away all before the war.
The second child was Jozef Meijer van Tijn, born on 8 June 1852 in Den Helder, but he died there already 2 months later on 16 August 1852
Thirdly, the first girl was born on 1 June 1853 in den Helder, named Beletje van Tijn. She married Moses de Leeuw on 21 May 1878 in Den Helder, who was born in Alkmaar on 23 December 1850. This couple had (as far as is known) two sons: Meijer de Leeuw, who was born on April 1, 1879 in Den Helder, but who died in Auschwitz on February 15, 1945. This date of death was established by order of the District Court of Amsterdam on December 21, 1945 and the death certificate was drawn up on January 12, 1946. The second child was Salomon, born in May 1881 but he died already in September 1881, just 5 months old. Moses de Leeuw died before the war in Amsterdam on July 17, 1925 and his wife Beletje van Tijn died 2 years later on September 16, 1928 in Soest.
The fourth child was born on 18 October 1854 in Den Helder with the name Klaartje van Tijn. She married Benjamin Oudkerk there on 12 November 1879 and together they had seven children, namely: Elsje on 7 October 1880, Jacomina on 7 November 1881, Hijman on 27 November 1882 but he died after 1-½ years on 15 May 1884. Then Meijer was born on 11 June 1884, followed by Mietje on 22 September 1885. Again a Hijman on 20 October 1886 and the last daughter Belo, who was born on 6 December 1887. All Oudkerk children were born in Den Helder. Of these Oudkerk-children, only Hijman and Belo have survived the Holocaust. Hijman, born 1886, passed away 16 Juli 1972 in Amsterdam. Belo and her husband returned after the war to Den Helder. But Elsje, Jacomina, Meijer and Mietje and their families were murdered during the Shoah.
Levi van Tijn was the fifth and was born on 22 November 1855 in Den Helder, where he died at the age of 56 on 26 October 1912. The 56-year old Levi was unmarried and was a bookbinder by profession.
Golda van Tijn was the sixth child and became the 2nd wife of Benjamin Oudkerk on 6 February 1900. She was born on 21 December 1856 in Den Helder and murdered in Auschwitz on 12 February 1943. Benjamin Oudkerk was previously married to Golda's sister Klaartje van Tijn, who died on 18 September 1898.
Engeltje van Tijn was born seventh and last child on 22 November 1859 in Den Helder. On 27 August 1901, she became the 2nd wife of Daniël van Thijn, who was previously married to Marianne Drukker and who had died on 31 March 1901. Children from that previous marriage were Jacob van Thijn (Alkmaar 29 October 1886 – Amsterdam 14 March 1939), Samuel van Tijn (Alkmaar 7 August 1888 – Auschwitz 19 November 1942); his wife Vronica Muller was murdered in Auschwitz at the same time as her husband. Levi was born on 12 January 1894 as the 3rd son of Daniël van Thijn and Marianne Drukker. He was murdered in Auschwitz on 27 August 1943, along with his wife Leentje van Allemans and his 10-year-old son Marcus. Only his son Jonas (7 October 1923) died in Auschwitz on 12 January 1944.
