Biography Paul Philips

Dr. Paulus Israël (Paul) Philip was a judge in Cologne until his professional ban
in 1935.

He was held as prisoner 27160 in 'Schutzhaft' in Dachau.
In Nazi Germany, Schutzhaft or Protective custody, was the extra- or para-legal
rounding-up of Jews and other groups of persecuted persons in Nazi Germany.
Schutzhaft did not provide for a judicial warrant, in fact the detainee
would most probably never have seen a judge.
After his release, Paul Philip and his wife Margareta, where they settled in Velp. Paul Philip died on March 26, 1942 and is buried at the Rosendael cemetery in Rozendaal. Stolpersteine were placed for him and his wife at their last address in Cologne.
