Biography

About David Snijders and his second wife Rebecca Groen.

David Snijders was a son of Abraham Snijders (Amsterdam 1859-Den Haag 1931) and Lea Ferro (Amsterdam 1864-Antwerp 1912). He was born on 25 June 1881 in Amsterdam en was employed as a diamon workerk in Antwerp, where he lived at Statiestraat 72. Up from 1896 David stayed in Belgium ans has lived in Antwerp, Borgerhout and Berchem. 

David Snijders was previously married to the daughter of Mozes Appel and Duifje van Os: Sophie Appel,  who however passed away on 1 June Juni 1913 in Hoboken (Antwerp). Their wedding was in Antwerp on 31 Octoer 1905. The couple had 2 children, Abraham op 5 December 1906 and on 12 November 1909 Emmanuel, both born in Borgerhout, but nothing is furhter known about them. 

On 17 December 1914 David remarried in Antwep to Rebecca Groen, a daughter of Moses Groen (den Haag 1841-Den Haag 1891) and Anna Elisabeth Messchendorf (Amsterdam 1844-Den Haag 1891). Rebecca was born in Den Haag op 16 April 1870. She stayed since 1913 in Antwerp and lived at Marialei. As far as known there was no offspring from this marriage. 

David Snijders/Snyders and his wife Rebecca Groen were together deported on 10 October 1942 from Mechelen to Auschwitz, where they have been murdered on 20 October 1942.
