Emanuel Brandel

Emanuel Brandel, geb. 13.02.1892 te Rotterdam, is op 03.08.1942 met transport no. 14 vanuit het Franse kamp Pithiviers gedeporteerd naar Auschwitz. Vermoedelijk tesamen met zijn echtgenote Elisabeth Brandel-Katan en dochters Sophia en Celli.

Hij heeft dus een tevergeefse poging ondernomen om naar veiliger oorden te ontkomen.

Emanuel Brandel was vriend en zakelijk compagnon van Simon Isaac Eliasar (zie: http://www.communityjoodsmonument.nl/person/207691/nl) in de in Rotterdam gevestigde bedrijven VOKARO (Voorschots Kas Rotterdam) en Handelsonderneming Mercurius. De gezinnen Brandel en Eliasar woonden naast elkaar in de Groningsestraat in Scheveningen.

In addition, a Jokos file (number 12628) on this family is at the Amsterdam Municipal Archive. Access is subject to authorization from the Stichting Joods Maatschappelijk Werk.The Jokos file reveals that a claim was lodged for compensation for valuables surrendered to the Lippmann-Rosenthal looting bank (L-claim, number 1419/417).
