Toghether with his wife Femma Abas, he had eight children, of whom one, Grietje, has died in childhood and one son Maurits, got married to Hendrika Zwart. In 1939 Meijer Leijden van Amstel and Femmetje (Femma) Abas celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They then lived at the Vrolikstraat 203 in Amsterdam.
Meijer and Femmetje had eight children. Grietje died when she was very young. Sientje, Maurits, Lea and Salomon died in the war. Three children survived the war.
