My mother Dora Liefman lived in this house with her parents and two younger sisters. Eli and Amalia. Her parents and Amalia died in Sobibor in April and May 1943. Isaac was interred in Westerbork and I have a feeling that his wife and daughter were as well. My mother went into hiding as did Eli. They both, at different times, escaped a roundup but went through the same safe house and were reunited. My mom's then fiancé Wim Plokhoy had a brother in law, name unknown, who helped my mother as he was involved with the Dutch resistance. My mother worked for a shipping firm and the park where she walked through had had a round up. Her finace phoned her at work to alert her. Her boss arranged for some office staff to walk with my mother to the safe house so she would not be so easily identified as being Jewish. What exceptional bravery. My mother passed away last year. She always said she would not allow the past to effect her future.
