Mirjam Scheiner's parents - David Scheiner and Paula Scheiner-Bienstock - lived with their three children Erich, Doris and Mirjam in Dortmund, Leopoldstraße 30. With the support of the Kinder-Comité Amsterdam Mirjam was brought to Amsterdam in february 1939. Her parents and siblings fled to Belgium in summer 1939, than to France. They in vain tried to get into contact with Mirjam. In France the four Scheiners were interned 1942, but fighters of the Résistance freed them. All members of the family - except the little Mirjam -survived persecution and war.
