Elisabeth Speijer was a daughter of Levie Speijer and Jansje Berclau. She married in Amsterdam on 17 July 1918 to Hartog Melkman, son of Abraham Melkman and Violente Mendes.
She had another brother Gerrit and two sisters: Sara and Grietje.
