David Kremer was born in Dunaburg, current-day Daugavpilz, Latvia into a family of eight children. In 1904 he moved to Cologne with his parents. In 1936 David and his family settled in the Netherlands. One of his parents and a sibling, who had moved with him to Holland, survived the war.
