Abraham Elias Boutelje was graduated in Slavic studies and worked as a translator of Polish, Russian, Serbo-Croatian and Czech works. He was not married.

One child of Elisabeth Elte and her late husband Israel Boutelje (1859-1924) survived the war. Their daughter Anna Clara Boutelje was also killed.
