Heiman Bollegraaf was the son of Berend Bollegraaf and Hendel Levie, who died in 1939. Berend and Hendel had nine children, two of whom died before the war. The other children, Heiman, Bloeme, Betje, Simon, Hester, Frouwke and Saartje, died in the war.
In 1941 Berend was arrested and transported to Groningen. He died in Westerbork, probably as a result of cardiac arrest.
