The mayor of Hardinxveld requested that David Philip Barend Meiboom, a Jew residing in Hardinxveld, be located. He had left the home of his parents on 10 August 1942. 'Since the missing person was depressed, an accident is perfectly conceivable. Meiboom was wearing dark brown trousers, a dark brown jumper, black socks and interlock underwear.'

Barend Meiboom was a son of David Meiboom, who had settled in Hardinxveld in the mid-19th century. He ran a butcher’s shop in Boven (Upper) Hardinxveld together with a relative.
