Joseph van Spiegel can be seen on a group picture of 22 Jewish children, made at the end of September 1942 on the courtyard of the synagogue in Deventer. In 2008 a documentary was made about this picture, called “Een foto, een zoektocht, de herinnering”, by the Etty Hillesum Centrum in Deventer

Elisabeth van Spiegel-Gazan was married to Falk Spiegel. The couple had six children. Of the three children who in July 1942 no longer lived with their mother, one survived the war. Falk van Spiegel died in 1939. Addition of a visitor of the website
