Jesaja Jules van der Horst hoorde bij degenen die de eerste oproep voor tewerkstelling ontvingen in juli en augustus 1942. Hij kwam met zijn broers Maurits en Michael op 20 augustus 1942 in Westerbork aan. De volgende dag al werden de drie broers doorgestuurd naar Auschwitz.
