Marianne Stad-Scheffer was the widow of Isaac Joel Stad, who had died in 1912. The couple had ten children: in Rotterdam Simon, who died there only 10 months old, Jacob Manus Stad and Judik Stad; in London Esther, Rebecca and Simon Stad and in Amsterdam Sientje and Eli, both deceased ther at young age and Samuel and Joseph. At least one child survived the war.
