Barend Cozijn was a member of the CPN with the pseudonym Van Beek. In 1937 he was a member of the district administration of this party, possibly in Amsterdam.

Barend Cozijn (ook wel als Couzijn geschreven) kwam uit een sociaal-democratisch gezin. Hij was jarenlang lid van de aan het NVV verbonden Algemeene. Via de linkervleugel van de SDAP kwam hij bij de CPH. Hij was bedrijfsleider bij een grote textielfirma.
