David Gomes de Mesquita was a goldsmith. He had a shop on the Utrechtsestraat where he sold jewelry and watches.
During the war David Gomes de Mesquita helped friends and relatives to a hiding place. He himself did not survive.

In addition, a Jokos file (number 000943) on this family is at the Amsterdam Municipal Archive. Access is subject to authorization from the Stichting Joods Maatschappelijk Werk.The Jokos file reveals that a claim was lodged for compensation for valuables surrendered to the Lippmann-Rosenthal looting bank (L-claim, number 4153/4207).

David Gomes de Mesquita was juwelier en een boom van een kerel. Om in Vught gescheiden te zijn van zijn gezin viel hem zwaar. Vanuit Vught werd hij op transport gesteld naar Auschwitz. Tijdens het transport verloor hij al de moed. Na de eerste dagen in Birkenau was er niets meer van hem over. Hij werd op werktransport gesteld naar de kolenmijnen, waar hij al binnen een week stierf.
