Abraham Bloemendal

Abraham Bloemendal was a son of Philippus Bloemendal and Betje Polak. He married in Den Haag on 14 October 1925 to Jochwet Feige Beder, daughter of Simche Izak Beder and Sara Scheindel Kornmehl.
The couple had two children: Philip Eduard and Bertha Louise.

Op 3 juni 1942 werd Jochwet Feige gesignaleerd op de markt Ten Katestraat, die voor Joden was verboden. Ze probeerde aan aanhouding te ontkomen door te zeggen dat ze daar woonde, en later door aan te geven dat ze daar iets kwam afleveren. De politieman Pieter Groen merkte ook op dat ze haar ster niet volgens voorschrift op de jas had genaaid, maar los had opgespeld. De volgende dag werd ze overged…

Anne Frank, in her diary, writes that Betty Bloemendal was a diligent student...but 'more recently' she was not so diligent - of course, it was during the War, and the Holocaust.  They were together as classmates and friends for the years 1941-42.

Anne rather snobbishly commented that Betty came from a 'poor' family. Of course, Anne was a young girl, and did not know any better regarding this rath…

The Bloemendal.family came from Frankfurt am Main originally. They came to Groningen around 1750
