Leentje de Swarte-Vogel

Hijman de Swarte was a son of Ruben de Swarte and Rebecca de Swarte. His parents were cousins and they had eight children together, viz. Meijer, Abraham Lion, Sara, Izaak, Judith, Joseph, Barend and Hijman. Barens died already after five weeks and Joseph survived the war. All the others were murdered during the Shoah.

Salomon Vogel, a son of Isaäc Vogel and Trijntje Lubig, was born in Amsterdam on 11 February 1883. He was a peddler by trade. On 26 June 1913 he married Sara Roodveldt, who was born in Amsterdam on 19 April 1889 as the daughter of Jesaia Roodvelt x Leentje Wittenburg.

After the divorce of Hijman de Swarte from Louise van Dal on 30 May 1930, the 54-year-old Hijman only officially married the 26-year-old Leentje Vogel on 18 June 1941. However, already on 15 January 1935, their son Salomon was born, who was given the name of his mother: Vogel.
