Jacob Krant was a son of Hartog Krant and Bloeme Rootveldt. He married Femmina de Leeuw in 1916 in Amsterdam. He was a rag merchant.

This letter seems to be written from the Westerbork camp, not Monowitz. Jacob Krant writes the letter to a certain Piet and to his son Hartog, who is not in captivity yet.
