Matthieu Lopes Cardozo

Matthieu Lopes Cardozo was arrested on 28 January 1944 in Amsterdam. After that he was, presumably for interrogation by the SD, brought to Scheveningen. He was registered there as a prisoner on 31 January. On 5 February 1944 he was presumably taken back to a prison in Amsterdam. On 5 April 1944 he was deported together with his father to Auschwitz.

The Lopes Cardozo family went into hiding at the Nieuwe Herengracht 35 in Amsterdam. They likely had fake identification papers. Probably by betrayal the family was discovered and was deported.
