Femmie Leon-Montanhes

Elisabeth Lea Root, born 21 June 1879 in Port Nassau in Lower Saramacca in Dutch Gyana, was a daughter of Mozes Root from Amsterdam and Leentje Frank from Utrecht. She was the 2^nd of seven children of Mozes and Leentje, who were married in Paramaribo in 1875. There, in Surinam, her sisters Esther and Hanna Marie were born and also her brother Abraham Hartog.

Femmie Montanhes, born 27 April 1910, was a daughter of Elisabeth Lea Root and Isaac Montanhes. She was married 7 February 1934 in Amsterdam to a hairdresser from Den Haag, Jacques Leonhard Léon, who was born 2 December 1904 in Den Haag as son of David Léon and Geertrui Jacoba van der Haak. On 7 June 1935 Femmie and Jacques had a daughter, named Geertrui Jacoba.
